The book Rethinking Holistic Education from the Perspective of Intersectorality: Subjects, Knowledge and Territories is the latest publication produced and released under the auspices of the UNESCO Chair The City that Educates and Transforms, led by ISEC Lisboa.

Officially launched on 17 June at the auditorium of Annex II of Brazil’s Ministry of Education (MEC) in Brasília, the publication was also developed within the framework of the partnership between the Ministry of Education and the Federal University of Fronteira Sul (UFFS). The book launch took place during the III Technical Meeting of the UNESCO Chair, held from 16 to 19 June, and was attended by several members of the Assembly of Delegates of the UNESCO Chair The City that Educates and Transforms.

Edited by Jaqueline Moll, Cristiane Jung Abarno, Renata Gerhardt de Barcelos and Thiago Dutra de Camargo, the volume brings together researchers, policymakers and educators from different regions of Brazil to reflect on intersectorality as a guiding principle for comprehensive education policies.

The publication is grounded in the understanding that holistic education extends far beyond merely increasing students’ time at school. Instead, it requires a coordinated approach that brings together different public policies, institutions and community stakeholders to foster meaningful educational development.
