Municipality of Ponte de Sor hosts International Conference "Ponte de Sor: a City that Educates and Transforms - Democracy, Sustainability and Children's Rights"

On April 10, Ponte de Sor hosted the International Conference "Ponte de Sor: City that Educates and Transforms - Democracy, Sustainability and Children's Rights" at the city's theater, with more than a hundred participants.

The opening session of the event was attended by the President of ISEC Lisboa, Prof. Cristina Ventura, the Mayor of Ponte de Sor, Hugo Hilário, and Prof. Fátima Claudina, a representative of UNESCO's National Commission. The 1st Panel "Child-Friendly City" had as speaker the Director of ISEC Lisboa's School of Human Development, Prof. Rui Fonseca.

The closing session was led by the Coordinator of the UNESCO Chair, Prof. Isabel Baltazar, the Vice-President of ISEC Lisboa, Prof. Tânia Carraquico, and the Councillor for Education and Culture, Sérgia Bettencourt.

In two panels, "A Child-Friendly City" and "Democracy, Sustainability and Human Rights - The Voice of the Youth in the City", experts from different educational institutions debated the role of the city in the educational context. The conference also featured a musical performance by the "Musicando" project.

The Municipality of Ponte de Sor has enthusiastically and pioneeringly embraced the UNESCO Chair, "The City that Educates and Transforms", and has promoted and will continue to promote initiatives that contribute to its dissemination.
