UNESCO Chair Participates in the 7th Pedagogical Conference of Benavente
The UNESCO UniTwin Chair “The Educating and Transformative City”, led by ISEC Lisboa, participated in the 7th Pedagogical Conference of the Municipality of Benavente, held on 8 September 2026 at the Cineteatro de Benavente, through the participation of its Coordinator, Professor Isabel Baltazar.
Held under the theme “Education with Soul: When the City Educates People and Transforms the Future — Learning on Every Street”, the Conference brought together diverse voices and experiences to reflect on the role of schools within the community and the role of communities in education, while also marking the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year.
As part of the “Voices that Inspire” session, Professor Isabel Baltazar, also a faculty member at ISEC Lisboa, led a reflection on “When the City’s School Educates and Transforms the Future of Children and Young People”, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach to education, in which the city is understood as a space for learning and transformation.
The UNESCO Chair’s participation reinforces its commitment to promoting reflection on and fostering more educational, participatory and inclusive cities, valuing lifelong learning, civic participation, and the role of communities in building more sustainable and humane territories.
