A group of second-year students from the Master's Degree in Pre-School Education and Primary Education at ISEC Lisboa took part in a study visit to Brussels from 1 to 3 June, at the invitation of Member of the European Parliament Tiago Moreira de Sá, Professor in the Department of Political Studies at NOVA FCSH. The visit was awarded in recognition of the students' work within the Citizenship Project developed as part of the Methodology of Teaching History and Geography course, coordinated by Professor Isabel Baltazar. As part of this project, the students contributed to the creation of the book Europe Told to Children, an educational resource introducing children to the values and functioning of the European Union.

Accompanied by Professor Isabel Baltazar, ISEC Lisboa faculty member and Coordinator of the UNESCO UniTwin Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms", the students had the opportunity to gain first-hand insight into the European institutions through a programme that included visits to the European Parliament, the House of European History and the Parlamentarium, as well as a dinner discussion with the Member of the European Parliament.

This academic and educational experience enabled the students to deepen their understanding of the European institutions and strengthen the key competences required for their future professional practice. At the same time, it recognised their commitment to a project dedicated to promoting European citizenship and fostering citizenship education among younger generations.

This initiative further reinforces the active role of ISEC Lisboa and the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms" within the academic and wider social community.
