Seminar Highlights UPF’s Trajectory in the UNITWIN UNESCO Network – Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms”
The University of Passo Fundo (UPF) held, on the afternoon of Monday, November 17, the seminar “UPF’s Pathways in the UNITWIN UNESCO Network – Chair ‘The City that Educates and Transforms’,” hosted at the Collab space of UPF Parque. The event brought together professors, researchers, students, and representatives from different Graduate Programs and extension projects, strengthening dialogue on the role of the city as an educational territory.
The seminar was part of the activities of the UNITWIN/UNESCO Network, of which UPF is a founding member alongside institutions from Portuguese-speaking countries such as Brazil, Portugal, and Guinea-Bissau. Coordinated by Professor Adriana Bragagnolo, the Chair brings together universities committed to the creation of inclusive, sustainable, and participatory educational spaces, reaffirming the city as an active agent in human and civic formation.
The main objectives of the meeting were to present UPF’s trajectory within the international network, with an emphasis on the actions developed since 2023 in dialogue with the community; to discuss experiences and reflections involving teaching, research, and extension, highlighting innovative methodologies that strengthen education in and with the territory; and to consolidate connections among groups and projects linked to the Chair, encouraging collaborative and interinstitutional initiatives.
During the seminar, Professor Adriana Bragagnolo emphasized the collaborative nature of the initiative. “This is a space for joint construction. The Chair brings together 20 institutions that share the understanding that the city educates, transforms, and participates in civic formation. Our meeting seeks to integrate experiences, strengthen actions, and plan the next steps,” she stated.
The event also presented the different projects and Graduate Programs (PPGs) involved in the Chair’s work at UPF and concluded with a collective debate focused on building connections, aligning methodologies, and planning new actions to expand the Chair’s social impact and consolidate UPF’s participation in the UNITWIN/UNESCO Network.
