Lecture Educating for European Citizenship marked Europe Day at ISEC Lisbon

On 9 May, the Europe Day celebration, the lecture Educating for European Citizenship: The Values of Europe took place at ISEC Lisboa, with Dra. Cátia Nunes, from Europe Direct, AML - Lisbon Metropolitan Area

This action was carried out within the scope of the Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms", led by ISEC Lisboa, during the Geography curricular unit, and in an active citizenship experience for students in the first year of the Degree in Basic Education. This initiative had the participation of Professors Isabel Baltazar and Ana Pereira Neto, and, further to commemorating Europe Day, it included several activities in addition to the lecture, such as the creation of flags of the various European Union countries; listening to the national anthems (subtitled) of the countries that make part of the EU; and even the tasting of some famous international typical delicacies.

Europe Day is held annually on 9 May, to celebrate peace and unity in Europe. The date marks the anniversary of the historic Schuman Declaration, which set out Robert Schuman's vision of a new form of political cooperation in Europe, which would make a war between European countries unlikely, and unthinkable.
