UNESCO Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms” Joins Global Meeting for World Peace
On December 21, 2025, the UNESCO Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms” took part in the Global Meeting for World Peace. This international initiative, coordinated by António Fróis Rafael, founder of the Friends for World Peace (Amigos pela Paz do Mundo), simultaneously marked International Meditation Day—established by the UN in 2024—and International Human Solidarity Day.
The meeting was held online and brought together participants from Portugal, Brazil, and Spain in a symbolic moment of global connection dedicated to peace, dialogue, and inner reconnection.
Professor Isabel Baltazar, PhD, coordinator of the UNESCO Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms” led by ISEC Lisboa, attended the session. In her brief remarks, she highlighted the Network’s commitment to promoting peace, ethical coexistence, and education as a transformative force in society. The Chair’s scientific coordinator further emphasized that the Network, which comprises 26 universities from Portugal, Brazil, Guinea-Bissau, and Cape Verde, views Peace as one of its structural pillars for developing more humane, inclusive, and democratic cities.
The event program also included a period of silent meditation and a live performance by musician Christian Abba Hur.
