ISEC Lisboa Present at the Conference of UNESCO Chairs in Portugal

ISEC Lisboa was present at the Conference of UNESCO Chairs in Portugal, held on September 17 at the University of the Azores (UAc), represented by Professor Dr. Isabel Baltazar, coordinator of the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms" (A Cidade que Educa e Transforma) attributed to ISEC Lisboa.

The meeting, which was part of the commemorations of the UAc's 50th anniversary, brought together researchers, coordinators, and institutional representatives from across the country, creating a space for sharing knowledge, academic, and scientific cooperation among the various active UNESCO Chairs in Portugal. With a program entirely dedicated to UNESCO Chairs, Professor Isabel Baltazar gave a presentation entitled: "LEARNING TO BE: Global Citizenship, Interculturality and Sustainability - Project "The City that Educates and Transforms UNESCO Schools in Portugal."

The Executive Director of the Portuguese National Commission for UNESCO, Dr. Rita Brasil, was present and underscored the relevance of such initiatives, considering them "an effective added value for the national networks and an increased responsibility in defending UNESCO's values and principles."

During the conference, two projects proposed by ISEC Lisboa were also unanimously approved: the UNESCO Chairs Book and the UNESCO Schools Journal. At the close of the event, participants had the opportunity to take a guided tour of Furnas, offered by the Azores Geopark.
