UNESCO Chair Promotes Reflection on the Role of Legal Clinics in Access to Justice
On March 11, 2025, the Faculty of Law at Mackenzie Presbyterian University in São Paulo, Brazil, hosted the event "The Challenges of Legal Clinics: The Dialogue Between Teaching, Research, and Outreach from a French Perspective." This initiative took place within the scope of the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms," of which ISEC Lisboa is a founding member.
The meeting was introduced by Professors Dr. Solange Teles da Silva and Dr. Rodrigo Oliveira Salgado, who presented the research groups "Law and Sustainable Development" and "Law and Political Economy." The main conference was delivered by Professor Marjolaine Monot-Fouletier (Université Catholique de Lyon – UCLy), with an intervention by Professor Dr. Carolina Mota Mourão.
The debate highlighted the role of legal clinics as pedagogical practices that integrate teaching, research, and outreach, promoting access to justice and legal training committed to human rights and sustainable development.
ISEC Lisboa's participation reinforces its active involvement in promoting more just, inclusive, and educational cities, in line with the principles of the UNESCO Chair.
