Franciscan University Kicks Off "Extension Knowledge Cycle" with "Reading and Investigation of Territories" Theme
The "Extension Knowledge Cycle" event, held on April 30th, organized by the Franciscan University and themed "Reading and Investigation of Territories," featured the participation of Professors Dr. Juliana Colomé and Dr. Adriano Falcão.
The session was attended by faculty members from the institution who work on extension courses and projects. These projects translate academic knowledge into activities connected to the community, promoting integration between the university and the community, and contributing to social development. This was the driving force, according to Professor Marcio Tascheto da Silva, Pro-rector of Extension and Community Relations and coordinator of Working Group 2 – Territoriality, Identity, and Citizenship of the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms." He stated that this series of actions "(...) aims to provide UFN extension professors with spaces for exchange, reflection, and the construction of knowledge related to university extension. In today's panel, we debated the concept of territory and educational territory, which form the basis of much of our extension proposal at the University."
This cycle of actions demonstrates the importance of collaborative work in emphasizing the role of cities as educational spaces, where learning extends beyond educational institutions, involving all citizens, and where cities play a proactive role in building communities.
