In a solemn ceremony at Palácio Ceia, in Lisbon, on December 19, Universidade Aberta (UAb) officially joined the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms" led by ISEC Lisboa. The celebration was attended by the President of ISEC Lisboa, Cristina Ventura, the Dean of Universidade Aberta, Carla Padrel de Oliveira, the representative of the UAb Chair, Ana Patrícia Almeida, the director of the Department of Education and Distance Learning, Cláudia Neves, and the director of the Distance Education and Elearning Laboratory, Luísa Lebres Aires.
The ceremony was also attended remotely by the president of the UNESCO Chair Assembly of Delegates, Jaqueline Moll (UFRGS/URI - Brazil) and the member of the International Committee, Márcio Tascheto (UFN - Brazil).
"The integration of Universidade Aberta in this great project is really important for us, given all the characteristics that this institution has, its vocation, its mission to take knowledge, teaching outside the physical walls of university campuses, to take it across borders, and this is absolutely in line with the principles of the Chair," concludes ISEC Lisboa's President Cristina Ventura.
