2nd Call | Aprender a Ser Magazine - Learning to Live Together: United in Diversity

The UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms", led by ISEC Lisboa, invites UNESCO Schools to participate in the 2nd edition of the Aprender a Ser magazine, dedicated to the theme “Learning to Live Together – United in Diversity”.

Inspired by the UNESCO Report for the 21st Century, prepared by the International Commission on Education chaired by Jacques Delors, this issue stems from a core idea: learning to live with others is just as important as learning to know and learning to do. In a world shaped by a diversity of cultures, experiences, and ways of thinking, schools play a fundamental role in building relationships based on respect, dialogue, and mutual understanding.

In this spirit, we invite schools to share experiences, projects, and educational practices that bring this challenge to life, exploring three key dimensions:

  • earning to live with Others:L How knowledge of the history, culture, and values of others helps combat racism, xenophobia, and prejudice within the school environment and the community.
  • LGlobal understanding:L The development of critical skills to decipher information, combat misinformation, and promote a Culture of Peace.
  • LSchool-City Projects:L Educational practices that go beyond the classroom and transform the city into a living laboratory of diversity and social sustainability.

The magazine is published biannually, with issues in June and December. UNESCO Schools must submit their work by December 31, 2026, to isabel.baltazar@iseclisboa.pt and catedra.unesco@iseclisboa.pt.
