ISEC Lisboa is the only Portuguese institution in the 1st Ibero-American Pedagogical Olympics

The opening ceremony of the 1st Ibero-American Pedagogical Olympics took place online on October 13, 2026, marking the start of an international initiative dedicated to education, pedagogical innovation, and cooperation among higher education institutions across the Ibero-American region.

ISEC Lisboa is participating in this initiative with a team of eight students—six in their 3rd year of the Bachelor's degree in Basic Education and two in their 2nd year of the Master's degree in Preschool Education and Primary Education—making it the only Portuguese institution represented in the Olympics. The team consists of Inês Capinha, Carolina Teixeira, Tiago Russo, Mónica Santos, Nádia Martins, Diogo Minho, Evelina Zambujeiro, and Elisabete Neves, under the mentorship of Professor Isabel Baltazar, PhD, lecturer and researcher at ISEC Lisboa and Coordinator of the UNESCO Chair "The City that Educates and Transforms".

ISEC Lisboa was invited to join this initiative by the World Parliament of Education, represented by Dr. María Fernanda Gualotuña, within the scope of the work developed by the UNESCO Chair. This invitation recognizes the importance of academic cooperation and the creation of opportunities to participate in international educational projects.

The Ibero-American Pedagogical Olympics promote collaborative learning, creativity, and the development of pedagogical skills through challenges that encourage the sharing of knowledge and experiences among students from different countries.

ISEC Lisboa's participation reinforces the institution's commitment to internationalization, educational innovation, and the training of future education professionals, highlighting the role of students in building innovative pedagogical practices and fostering cooperation among academic communities.
