The UNESCO UniTwin Chair “The City that Educates and Transforms”, led by ISEC Lisboa, will participate in the 7th Benavente Pedagogical Conference, to be held on 8 September at the Cineteatro de Benavente, through the participation of its Coordinator, Professor Isabel Baltazar.

Under the theme “Education with Soul: When the City Educates People and Transforms the Future — Every Street, a Learning Opportunity”, the conference will bring together diverse perspectives and experiences to reflect on the role of the school within the community and the community within the school, marking the opening of the 2026/2027 academic year.

As part of the session “Voices that Inspire”, Professor Isabel Baltazar, also a faculty member at ISEC Lisboa, will lead a reflection on the theme “When the City’s School Educates and Transforms the Future of Children and Young People”, highlighting the importance of an integrated approach to education, in which the city is recognised as a space for learning and transformation.

The UNESCO Chair’s participation reinforces its commitment to fostering reflection and promoting more educational, participatory and inclusive cities. It also highlights the value of lifelong learning, civic engagement and the role of communities in building more sustainable and people-centred territories.
