Workshop | Communicating for Climate Change

The workshop Communication for Climate Change: Techniques and Tools for Graphic Designers will take place on April 19 and 12 between 12:00 and 15:00 in the PRL room.

The value of climate change communication lies in its ability to capture the public's attention to the urgency of the issue, to promote risk perception and to motivate action in response. We know that visual communication plays a decisive role in successful communication. Communicating with images enhances information by making it accessible to the public, making it understood and appreciated. The complexity of climate change for the general public is related to the complexity of the subject, not only because of its abstraction but above all because of its distance from everyday life.

In a world made up of constant visual messages, sometimes so contradictory that they lead to disbelief but above all to alienation and disinterest among the general public, communicating in the right way is an imperative in today's societies. In this workshop, developed within the framework of the UNESCO Unitwin Chair, whose action is the responsibility of RICET - International Network of Cities that Educate and Transform, led by ISEC Lisboa, participants will have the opportunity not only to discuss the topic but above all to develop a project applying knowledge and techniques to design appropriate visual communication objects, in accordance with the best practices proposed by international research into Communication for Climate Change. Although aimed in particular at graphic designers, the workshops are open to anyone interested in the subject.
