Interdisciplinary Seminar “Landscapes” under the auspices of the Cátedra UNESCO
The UNESCO Chair is pleased to be associated with the Interdisciplinary Seminar “Landscapes, on the Occasion of the 100th Anniversary of Claude Monet’s Death”, which will take place on 28 October 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Adriano Moreira Auditorium of the Lisbon Geographical Society, in a hybrid format, marking the centenary of Claude Monet’s death.
Organised by the Ethnography Section, in collaboration with the Archaeology, Arts and Literature, and Heritage Studies Sections, the seminar aims to foster interdisciplinary reflection on the artistic, historical, anthropological and heritage-related dimensions of landscape.
The programme brings together specialists from different scientific fields, with presentations exploring the experience of looking, the anthropology and archaeology of landscape, heritage appreciation, identity and the sensory dimensions of landscape, as well as the representation and transformation of urban spaces. Representing the UNESCO Chair, Ana Pereira Neto, lecturer at ISEC Lisboa and member of Working Group 2 – Territoriality, Identity and Citizenship, will deliver a presentation entitled “Landscape – A Sensory Approach to Learning: Natural and Artificial Communication”.
This initiative aims to promote dialogue between different fields of knowledge and deepen our understanding of landscape as a space of memory, identity and cultural expression.
The UNESCO Chair invites the academic community, lecturers, researchers and all those interested to take part in this initiative. Online participation is available via the following link:
