Research Methodologies in Public Policy

The lecture will focus on exploring theoretical and methodological approaches applied to the analysis, formulation and evaluation of public policy, with a particular focus on the fields of spatial planning, the environment and sustainable development. Quantitative and qualitative methodologies will be discussed, including statistical analysis, interviews, surveys, participatory methods and techniques such as the Delphi method and multi-criteria evaluation, as well as the role of Geographic Information Systems in spatial analysis and decision support. The session will also seek to reflect on the importance of transdisciplinary research and the integration of different scales and actors in the development of public policies that are more effective, inclusive and resilient in the face of contemporary challenges.
